First Blog Ever...
Friday, 21 January 2005 03:11:37

Wow. Can't belive I'm actually blogging. The purpose for me doing so is threefold and mundane: First, I just wanted to do it. I'd close my eyes and just jump in, but I'm not very good at typing so the blog would be even less coherent. And by getting it over with hopefully it will pave the way for more and more meaningfull posts. Secondly, I've been checking out the site for quite some time now and, while I have grown quite fond of it, I cant help feeling like an interloper. So here I am. 28 year old Navy sailor and wannabe pilot (my wife prefers the term aspiring pilot) with my sights on the space program. And, yes, I do have my plastic dinosaurs for that fateful day I get to fly the shuttle and reinact Wash's first seen cause I'm kind of a dork. Last, I was curious if there were any bikers who could give me a pointer or two about how you know when you have a "wobble". This may sound pretty self evident, but as I am new to the two wheelin lifestyle (in hopes to make my wife a rich woman is the joke she hates) I'm not exactly sure the level of "wobble" to be concerned about. I've noticed a slight wobble around 70mph and I don't know if it's the speed, the road, or me freaking out cause I'm a big scaredy cat. Thanks for putting up with my diatribe. I promise to be shorter and more meaningful with my coming blogs. Droppy

Once Upon a Time, In July of 1993...

You guys who read my blogs regularly know that I'm a science fiction junkie who is also the most sentimental, sappy, vintage-loving guy around. I mean, I hang onto things that the average person would toss after a week or a month. In July of '93 I was part of a People to People trip to New Zealand or Australia. There were, like, 32 high schoolers from Nor Cal and Phoenix on the trip. I'd been out of the state once before going to the other side of the freakin' planet. Well, that trip opened my eyes and wow, it was just amazing. I made some really good friends on that trip and we stayed in close contact for about two years after the trip. Since '95 I've managed to stay in touch regularly with one and intermittently with two others. The rest just got lost in the ether. Fast forward to two days ago. I'm groovin' on this 90s flashback...thanks VH1! And I start wondering what became of these other folks I lost contact with. Enter the power of Google. Within a day, I'd found all but one person! It's incredible to see what all my friends have been up to over the past decade. Two are married, one has a daughter, one works for a major organization in NYC, one was in the Peace Corps. I'm having the biggest head trip over all this. Don't let friends slip away, folks. And if you do, Google the crap out of them!! -Taylor
