I thought it would be nice to sit down and have a little chat... About the upcoming Halloween. I have to say that I have never really been this excited for Halloween. I'll be dressing up (One is never too old), and what about everyone else? Will you be going? What as? Thought it would be nice to have a Halloween costume thread. :-) P.S. If you can guess my costume correctly, kudos for you. ^.^ P.P.S. I went to cosplay.com and WOW! AMAZING work! Check it out if you get the chance. :-)

This is my first blog, so bear with me browncoats. I have never really thought much about writing a blog, but recent events have moved me to do so. My father passed away last week after a six month battle with cancer. He passed away before I could get there, but at least my sister was with him at the end. Not being able to say goodbye has left me feeling the loss all the more. My father and I were never very close you see. He was always one to follow his own way and was never much for family. I tried, I really did, to be close to him, to have that father/son bond that you hear about so much, but somehow it always alluded me. I guess it simply was not meant to be. I reached out, I called, I wrote, but my father never seemed all that interested in keeping the lines of communication open. Years went by, we grew apart, and I guess a rift of sorts sprung up between us. When he got sick, he pushed everyone away. He wanted to go it alone, as he has always done, so family was told to let him be. My sister, being as stubborn as he is, stayed near my dad (he lives in another state) and did what she could to take care of him. I envy her that in some ways, but it is a comfort to me to know that at least she was there to take care of him and make his last days as comfortable as she could. I am not posting this to seek sympathy, though any words of condolence are greatly appreciated, but rather to air my thoughts. The browncoats are like my family and if you can't talk to family who do you talk to? I guess the morale here is to stay in touch. Keep working at those relationships with family and friends, no matter how hard it might be at times. Time is the one thing that gets away from us, and before you know it that time is gone. No matter how much we might wish it otherwise, we can't get it back once it is past. Thanks for listening (or reading in this case). Take care browncoats. Keep flyin'!

This rant just plays to the fact that while Hollywood is busy churning out sequels like Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and (not to say anything of our fair captain) White Noise 2, Serenity still sits in Joss's mind, unknowable to the masses. I mean, any normal person looking at this entire situation would come to the natural conclusion that making a sequel, or another season would make money. I feel like someone is just being unreasonably stubborn, just so they can show who wears the pants in this relationship. There are 20 movies I can name off the top of my head that didn't deserve sequels, but got them. And Serenity deserves a sequel. It performed decently at the box office, and DVD sales have been good (thanks to all the Browncoat multiple buys, steady). Not even talking about tv here. I understand tv is a different animal. Especially nowadays when a show will barely last three episodes, much less three seasons (like another genre bending scifi show I could name), so, I wouldn't even dream of that possiblity. But this movie is sitting there, like that carrot that people tie to the fishing pole, and then hold in front of the donkey, so he'll walk? Okay? You see what I'm saying? We're the donkey, people! And the carrot? That's the movie. And no matter how fast and hard we go, we'll never reach it. Okay, that sounds a bit pessimistic. My point is, that I know, it's down to a board, and osme producers, or somesuch. But I just can't shake the feeling that there's this one person. Sitting in her/his office. Being an ass. And not letting us have our sequel. There is no other logical explanation. We've made them ton's o' money, and we're ready to spend more. If they'll give us the chance. Now, if you'll excuse me I'm off to watch Cube 2: Hypercube.

It really is amazing, none of my family, or my friends up to just before Serenity came out, even know about the show. I then got chatting with some random people, in random places (like a library in one case) and I have found that the browncoats are everywhere! They hide their true idenity in case aliance are near I guess. It does make me smile when I find another one, in the most unlikely of places too. Anyhoo, keep smiling, and keep flying. :o)
