yup, so I'm here, after being a lurker for a week or two I've decided that I'd better terrorise the site as a registered user, rather than just a guest. So that's it really, I've become a slightly more official Browncoat ;)

so yeah, been kind of more nervous than usual lately because I went in for an eye exam [haven't had one in 4 years... yeah I know uncontrolled diabetics should go every year, but I didn't have any health insurance... ] so the doc is like, "um... have you been told that your left eye is slightly off before?" what? off how? like off I need glasses? because I already know I do, or off like you have a crazy lazy eye thing? turns out my eye was swollen. and so he couldn't figure out what my perscription should be because that swollen eye wouldn't focuss at all. so he made an appointment for me for a week later... could be perminent damage due to out of controll BG, could be glacoma, could be catarats... joy of joys. so I sat around being worried all week. its kind of a trend for me. anyhoo. went back, had more tests taken, my sight was a bit better [which can happen if my blood sugar happens to be good that day] but I do have a bit of perminent damage to my left eye due to brittle type one diabetes... I've decided not to think about the possibility of going blind before I'm forty. its easier that way.

so while I was worrying about the whole eye thing I started having chest pains. worderful. heart attack at age 25? great. woke up my SO and was like, "hospital.now.chest.pain." so he jumped out of bed. checked on the kids [my dog, haylee and his kitten, Jayne]. and then we were off. when I got to the ER I thought I was going to die, this was pain like I had never felt before. they hook me up to a bunch of machines, test my Blood Sugar [258] and go consult about my condition. turns out I have an ulcer. two actually. they were suprised that I hadn't had pain before that night. after I got done hurking up some very red sputum I told them that I have a high pain threshold. I break bones without knowing it. walk around with ear aches so bad that I've lost some of my hearing. shoot up without pain. tatoo without pain. eyebrow ring without pain. occasionaly cut without much pain. anyway. more diet constrictions. basicly salad with fat free dressing [not vinagarett] and lean red meat or fish. no coffee, cafine, fat, acidy foods [citris], no black tea, spegetti sauce, pizza, spicey food... and then add on my diabetic restrictions... I need to learn that I can't really enjoy food anymore.

Being invovled in the entertainment field and being a sci-fi lover, it never occurred to me to write a sci-fi related screenplay. Well I did it last week and it seems there is interest out there. I am excited that people still are in love with stylish, provoking films that rely on character rather that special effects to carry a story.

A few weeks ago I put together and aired a little splice-o-rama sound pic of Jayne for my radio station, KFJC (89.7fm in the San Fran Bay area,

[b]First, the Pros:[/b] --Alan Tudyk. Obviously. --The film was directed by Aussie Alex Proyas, who also directed "The Crow," and "Dark City," in addition to lots of music videos and smaller art hits ("Garage Days"). --Isaac Asmiov. Smart Guy. --Actors Chi McBride ("Gone in 60 Seconds") and James Cromwell (lots of stuff) are always fun to watch. [b]This was the best I could do. Seriously. I LOVE Alex Proyas. But, here are the cons:[/b] --Will Smith. Sure, he's a charming, charismatic actor, but he hasn't been in a good FILM since [i]Men in Black[/i]... in 1997. He hasn't ACTED since [i]Ali[/i] in 2001. Not that this movie will require him to act. It's just, being charismatic will only get you so far. Sooner or later, you have to ACT. --Special Effects. They look cool and all, but can we all agree, TOO many effects are an indicator that the writers were short on story? See also, [i]The Phantom Menace[/i]. --Akiva Goldsman. I don't care if he won an Oscar for [i]A Beautiful Mind[/i]. This does not go far at all in making up for [i]Batman and Robin[/i], [i]A Time to Kill[/i], [i]Practical Magic[/i], and [i]Lost in Space[/i]. This guy SUCKS. He can't write, he can only steal, and badly. Huge chunks of [i]A Beautiful Mind[/i] were stolen (and not very well) from the films [i]Fight Club[/i] and [i]The Sixth Sense[/i]. Huge chunks of [i]Batman and Robin[/i] were stolen from "Batman the TV Show." I mean, REALLY. --Isaac Asimov? The only thing this movie has in common with the book... is the title. Oh, and the character of Susan Calvin. [b]Well, if you think I'm bein' stupid, please let me know. But with all the above, I really think the scales are tipped in favor of "Suck." Anyone else care to weigh in?[/b]
