Hey folks. This may sound really weird, but I've been noticing that when people give me a positive review, I start acting like a damn puppy, complete with tail-wagging. It's kind of embarrassing. I guess in the past I've been sort of starved for compliments on my creative stuff, and that's why I act that way.

But I'm really not trying to fish for compliments... Did I get too florid with a paragraph? Hit me with it. My grammar sucks? Tear it a new one. Hate my ugly face? Go for it.

And ratings. I think a nine or a ten are ratings for a piece that you like so much that a few months (or even years) later, you might go back and read over. A seven or eight is a piece that you like, but that you'll probably only read just the once (or twice, if you're commenting). A five and six is something that didn't really strike you one way or another. A three or four is something that kind of bothers you, maybe you don't know why, or maybe you do, but it's something that's just a little bit troubling or nibblesome. Ones and twos, well... You know. Of course, this is coming from someone who rarely rates, if ever, but still.

It's just a thought. There's a lot of good authors and stories on here, yeah? We all have equal amounts of merit. Um, and I know that pairings can factor into likes and dislikes, I might even sound like a bit of a hypocrite here, but I think normally we all kind of congregate with the pairings we're comfortable with, and that's fine, because it lets us ALL be. It's just that when there's accidental overlap, there can be friction. It's important to not mistake that with writing being "good" or "bad," because it's all relative. This is something I need to remember too.

Anyway, that's my two cents.
