A bizarre blow indeed

"It was a bizarre blow to have a story in your head and suddenly not get to tell it." - Joss Whedon on Firefly's cancellation.Maybe it's just me. I've taken part in three Firefly RPs over on Storycrafter.com. Every single one has failed. The first because the Storycrafter for the RP faded. He had a great opening, but no follow up.
The second failed because the Storycrafter who crated it had no game. He was running an in-character chat more than an actual game. That is entirely do-able to a point.
The third... that was fairly excruciating, actually. I wasn't the SC on record, but I was one of three people running it, and by the end I wasn't a co-SC so much as a referee. When it gets to the point that you dread going to the story site to check on updates, it's time to pull up stakes and leave. But not me. Oh no. I survived the throes of cancellation *sound of Remington shotgun slide-action* I could handle this.
I was using an altered version Marcel Cariveau from my Heartbroken Fanfic for the RP, and I had created a shepherd. I still had stories to tell for both of them. And then, one day, the opportunity to tell them was gone.
Moral of the story. Don't get attached... well, not TOO attached to anything the networks do. Any of the networks.
Since Firefly was canceled, I've done whatever I can to recreate the shine, to bring the 'verse back within my reach. Yeah, I'm still attached. I always will be. Because there are still stories to tell.
Because it really was a very, very bizarre blow.
