Where do we go from here?

Thursday, August 9, 2007 4:27 PM

This train of thought is long and rambling. More for my sake then yours. I sometimes have to say or read things to work them through my thick head. Be warned.

Read at your own peril.

I've made friends here. Lots of them. You've seen me happy, crazy, sad, annoyed, and content.

This site gave me friends I could talk with, laugh with, yell at, and with whom I could wax poetic. So why does it bother me so to see other folks getting the same chance? It seems like my head broke, the site didn't. It didn't change, but I did.

Do we talk about just anything? Wouldn't that sort of break the rules of the site? I mean, new poeple don't want to wander in on us discussing the latest hookups and/or social distortions...at least not in the general threads. Do they? They want their own chance to get Firefly Crazy. I think they should have the right.

It seems silly to personalize a fansite when we can get personal outside the fansite. You know? Like at SF or the Whedonesque boards or yahoo groups. But fandom has to be perosnalized to be felt. Am I being insane? Should FFF be for Firefly and related talk only? On one hand I think it should and on the other I don't want it to be clinical.

I admit to starting some of it. Yes, the Tree/Clubhouse was one of my haunts.

Maybe it's all that Joss/verse worship. It's gotten to me. Sure, I like Joss and his work, but it's not the end all be all. I like the crew, but not everything they touch is gold...SciFi channel anyone? I guess it's perspective. I'm not even sure what my issue with FFF is anymore. Is it the cliques and fanboys or is it the verse itself?

What can we do?

Give me something to post about!
Please give me something!
*looks down and sighs*

I think, after my little rant/pity log here, that I've figured out what it is. I'm mad that we don't talk like we used to talk. That we don't debate the finer points of Inara's possible Bene Geserit training or Kaylee's gift with puzzels. We don't discuss anything anymore, at least not the folks I know. New poeple do...I just miss my old pals and how excited we were. That's all. I'm jealous.

Zoid's future quotes kinda brought it all back to me. We had a lot of fun debating those. Good times indeed.

So, yeah. Sentimental and jealous. Mad at the lack of source material. And a little hungry.
