I'm not going to take it from him anymore (venting on RL)

I can't take it from my boss anymore! He's manipulative, controlling, and he still hasn't (or refuses) to define exactly what my responsibilities are. It's been 7 months and he's still not letting me be the head of my department!

He was yelling at me again on Friday because I had made a decision without him on how to improve the work in my department, and in the middle of it all, he tells me that he's been trying to "mentor" me all this time. How can he mentor me when he's two doors down 99% of the time?? (And, this door is shut, mind you!) I don't want him to mentor me b/c I don't want to compromise my values and become like him.

After serious consideration, I'm going to quit my job. I'm in college and over the age of 24, which means financial aid is going to take care of my bills, so there is no real need for me to work. The only reason I took the job in the first place was to gain experience. After consulting several people in my field, I've learned that he is the exception --no one acts like this on a daily basis! It's just not worth my time!
