Reminiscing

Saturday, April 7, 2007 3:36 PM

Hi there,

While out on Monday my friends and I were remembering something that we now apparently only call 'that day'.

'That day' happened to be Tuesday 31st August 2004. We had all decided to go to Newcastle so John and I could check out the city before we started uni. It was an uneventful day (apart from being harrassed by a madman in a church) until we got back to Durham. Since we had an hour until the bus came John, Al and Karl decided to buy a bottle of Leffe (Belgian beer if you don't know) and go and drink it down by the river. Andrew and I went to the Cathedral instead.

When we got back we found out that Karl had dared Al to run up a steep hill. And then to run back down. Unfortunately, Al couldn't stop and ran into a bench at the bottom and somersaulted over it. Even more unfortunately, it had metal spikes sticking out the back; which Al hit and nearly castrated himself. Now Karl's reaction was apparently hilarious. He stood there saying nah over again. Al's reaction was to stand up and walk it off. If that was me I would have been screaming for an ambulance, but not Al.

On the bus home we were all talking about it and Al just turned round and said: "you're not stil going on about that are you?" That was when we decided Al was hard as nails. He probably wouldn't even have gone to the hospital if his dad hadn't forced him.
