A random (and rambling) interlude

I think I got a convert. I bushwhacked 'em with a YouTube video, (Rob Zombie/River - Living Dead Girl) They so want to see 'Serenity' now, but I said series first, or it won't make sense...


Anyhow, I am now trying to be a Writer. I've been re-reading my original stuff (non-FF) and cussing the flatness, the poverty of style, the grammar...you get the idea. It's Block Time. But at least I've been in the warm, at my own desk, with all my reference books to hand. And no bloody customers.

It's a bit of a scary leap, actually. You guys have all been great on the feedback/discussion front, so I thought it was worth the gamble. Of course, I now have to come up with some fresh and original ideas, and dress them all in sparkling prose. No more ripping off random elements that amuse me, and tying them up with obscure literary jokes. (Mind you, it got Terry P started, so maybe it's worth a shot.)

The cosmic oddness that is my fic writing will still continue, though. It's a good outlet for all the ramdomness that won't shoe-horn into anywhere else. After all, it started as a means of clearing mental blockage, before it became an obsession. And nobody else will let me make puns in Mandarin.

Third time the charm on the new house front, with any luck. This one is old-fashioned, but it looks in good nick and nobody has done anything odd to it in the way of dodgy conservatories, random extensions or 'features'. It's done out like a grandparental home, but apart from the truly scary carpet in one room (psychadelic orange swirls...'Miranda'...) it has potential. And a nice large study.
