Bet this never happened to Samuel Johnson!

So one of my biggest ambitions is to become a genuine, published writer of non-fiction books. It's something I'm working on slowly but surely (emphasis on the slowly part) by writing articles and essays for magazines and websites.

Imagine my delight when my boss said she had agreed that our IT Training company would supply an article about computers every month to a local magazine.

Boss: "You have a degree in English Litt. Do you mind writing the articles?"
Me: (aloud) Me? Sure! No problem. I'd be happy to!
Me: (in my head) YES!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!! WOO HOO!!! PUBLISHED EVERY MONTH!!! YAYYY!!!

Not that it's anything terribly exciting. The article is a maximum of 250 words, so I'm not exactly showing off my literary prowess. Still, it's written by me and published in an actual magazine read by actual people, so I'm a very happy hippie!

My first article has just hit the shelves. I know this because the editor sent me an email thanking me for my submission, saying it was perfect and suggesting a topic for next month. She also added an apology for not running my name next to the piece (?!?!?) saying this was an oversight and she'd be sure to correct it for the next issue.

So much for the dozens of copies I'd planned to buy and distribute to everyone who knows me... think they'd notice if I scribbled my name in marker underneath the article?
