the 'verse without Wash

I was thinking what the 'verse would be like without Wash. Meaning, if they were to be able to continue with with the tele bit (from my mouth to the gods ears) what would it be like without Wash? Now, I was extremely sad when he died but that was movie land. Would there be any way to bring his character back? I suppose that he could come back in flashback form which would be neat especially since I would love to see how his and Zoe's relationship formed. But, as with (most) everything, life must move forward. So, where would it move too?
