Ignore my last blog; I've changed my mind

Friday, August 11, 2006 5:37 AM

Well, like the title says, I've changed my mind. I found out where the ubran campus is and it doesn't seem that bad. It's a short walk from a train station but there's nothing really around the building except a Co-op gas station and a My Mac Dealer store. So, still some potential danger but the university assures that they will have measures in place so that students aren't mugged or worse.

And I guess I really want to take this class. It didn't really hit me until I was priting my portfolio, all 25 doubled-spaced pages of it. I mean, why else would I put that much effort into writing that many pages during the summer? Plus I was using characters I had created with a friend from a high school Creative Writing class and it felt so great writing for them again and just generally feeling that my writing voice has grown up a bit since high school. There's just something invigorating about writing for characters that are your own and nobody else's.

Now I have to wait to see if I get accepted into the class. The deadline for portfolios is August 15th so the prof might be getting more stuff and she'll have to read through those. I'll know for sure by August 30th but it's hard not to wonder whether my submission is strong enough to grab the attention of the prof or weak enough that she sees I could benefit from this class.

I do know one thing: that Led Zepplin class is full now so I won't be learning anything about them this year.
