How do you sell something so beautiful?

Monday, June 14, 2004 7:07 PM

I sold the tractor.

Of course, not before I got drunk off my @$$ and I threw a half empty bottom of Vat 15 at it. I sold it to Bob Johnson, the only man to have bought land on the subcontinent before the war. (Remember when everyone thought Bob was k-razy?) He’s one rich S.O.B. now, but he gave me a fair price. Said he couldn’t even see the place where the bottle had scraped the paint.

He also offered me a job. Farming, naturally. Truth be told, I thought about it. I thought about it a lot. I just can’t leave my land. It’ll be the death of me. Just like Leung.

Granted, the land ain’t much -- a house, three graves out back with a space for a fourth, and acre after acre of white Alliance Decon Foam. (Gonna be my best harvest ever this year. Har har.)

I’m takin’ Mickey’s advice. I took the money from the sale of the tractor and I bought soil testing kits and surveying equipment. I’m heading out for the hills on my property out to the west. I don’t know what I expect to find. My boys and those Browncoats hid in those caves during the battle of bil. Maybe I’ll find me a stash of rebel gold. Har har.
