the pain spreads

It's a familiar story, but this is the first time I've been the one telling it, so here goes...

I've been lending my Firefly DVDs to a co-worker, and I brought in the fourth and left it in his office this morning. (After discs 1 and 2, he didn't seem sufficiently addicted to buy the set himself, so I decided to lend all four.)

He just stopped by my office to say he watched the whole third DVD in one sitting, cause he couldn't wait to save it for his treadmill time like he did the first two DVDs. Could I please bring in the next?

I said, the next is in your office.

He said, Yeah, thanks, but the one after that?

I delivered the bad news and there was that look of pain and disbelief, followed by the need for clarification, (Only four? really?... really?), followed by the sharing of bad news with his wife (who also works here).

Poor guy.
