Writing vs. talking

Sometimes I forget that emotions don't come across very well in writing. There's been a few times on here where people have actually thought I was upset when I was merely commenting on something or joking around. I guess I'm so used to talking to people online that have known me for a long time.

Now, it's nice to know that these people are nice and caring enough to try to cheer me up, but I really think that I need to work on getting my point across. It's a tad bit less messy that way. Maybe a better use of emoticons are in order.

I think that it's more of a problem with me being socially inept than anything else though. I truly don't know how to relate to other people, especially face to face. Online I can let out the real me, mostly because I know that if there's anyone out there judging me, that they'll never actually be able to figure out who I am. That and that I feel comfortable with my pals here...kinda nice to actually belong.
