Serenity Novelization Interview

Well.... I was going to write a short review about the novel... but The Signal (the Firefly/Serenity podcast) has a no spoiler interview with Keith R.A. DeCandido, the author of the novel. His interview is actually pretty good and explains a lot about the differences and similarities between the novel and movie. Check it out.

In my opinion, the novel is great. I've read books that movies are based out of, and the books are almost always better then the movie. I've read only a few books that are based on movies though. The last few I've read disappointed me. I can't really say that about this one. Watching the movie was great. Reading about scenes from the movie, from the point of view of Mal, River, Inara, The Operative, etc. etc. was even better. The author also did a great job of referencing events from the comic books and the TV series. It's one of the better novelizations I've ever read... and the best part is I don't have to wait for the DVD.

I still squeezed in a review… cool! Anyways, pick up the book when you get chance. See the movie first, though... Oh... and get the comics too. And Pocket Books, which published the novelization, is cleared for two more books. Looking forward to what those may be. The Signal podcast has more info doing the interview.
