Okay, I feel like I haven't had loads of time to blog lately. I've a stack of essays staring at me right now and I'm doing my best to ignore them for the time being.But I have to share just how many neat things have happened regarding Serenity and my students lately!
Without a doubt, the kids have noticed the Serenity stuff around my room...the poster, the comics, etc. And then the trailers started airing on TV (Simpsons, MTV, Monday Night Football, etc.)! Almost everyday I have at least one student tell me they saw the trailer. Some of them say it looks cool and they want to go see it. Others, not so much. But that's okay.
Yesterday one of my sophs mentions she saw the trailer, then four others instantly mention they saw it too. One says it looks cool. Then suddenly the whole class is either asking if they can get extra credit for seeing it or if we can just take a field trip to go see it! LOL
So I came up with an extra credit assignment to review the film. Some asked smartly if I wanted the ticket stub, too. And I do...I know teenagers'll sneak into theatres if they can and I want them to spend the money to see it. That way we can get ourselves a sequel!!
Today, just as class was ending, two students said they wanted to dress as Kaylee and River for Halloween (they could more or less pull it off) and said I'd make a great Wash, too! :D So expect some neat Halloween photos when that time comes around.
