My thoughts on Spoilers... ahem *SPOILERS*

Spoilers happen. You know it, and I know it. What I find ironical and somewhat funny are the spoiler-a-phobics who are seeing spoilers in the most innocent statements. I used the words "River displayed certain physical skills" after I saw the trailer. Somebody (I forget who) took that to mean River had become Ninja River. Thing is, we already know she's got physical skills - the way she stood on the railings while eavesdropping in OiS, and the "trick shooting" in WS - and you have to admit, I did choose my words carefully, trying very hard to refer to something without giving anything away, and got tromped on anyhow. I can't help someone else's vivid imagination or assumptions about WHAT exactly River was being turned into, now can I?

Then there are those who go into a thread that has *SPOILERS* in the title and then come down on the originator for writing a spoiler. I mean *hello*

Suffice to say, this is a "not-able-to-please-all-the-people-all-the-time" scenario. One of the new Minnesota Browncoats came to the bonfire last Friday, and when conversation turned to the screening, did she run away screaming "SPOILERS! SPOILERS!" Nope. She stayed and let us talk - and believe me, we TALKED. Her philosophy is that if she really wanted to remain spoiler free, it's her own responsibility.

As has been stated here, however, that's not always an easy thing to do. Thing is, we all want to talk about what's happened with the screenings - how long has it been since the DVDs came out, leaving us with very little new Fireflyage to talk about? I don't know - someone here will.

Also, spoiler-phobes should also keep in mind that what we're seeing now are PRE-SCREENINGS, meant to elicit a certain response from a certain set of viewers. What we've been seeing at the PRE-SCREENINGS may not even be in the FINAL PRINT. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that what I saw last week was different from what was shown at the first round. And the next round will be different from the second one. We are lab-rats in the cage, being put through audio and visual stimuli to elicit a desired response, all for Joss's amusement and potential data gathering purposes.

Nonetheless, for those of you who are writing spoilers intentionally - knock it off! For the rest, remember to write Comments on the Screening *SPOILERS* in your headline. That way you can in good conscience feel free to ignore the wee little spacebugs who come in anyway just so they can whine about it. They can't say they weren't warned.

And if you came in here looking for spoilers... too bad!
