Shiny! I get to learn Chinese

By the time Serenity comes out, I'll be speaking Chinese. Or at least learning how to.

Got a shiny e-mail today telling me that I'm allowed to take the intro Chinese course in the fall. Apparently I'm stupid enough that they let me in. Actually, I had to fill out a form and it was up to the department people to decide if I had an inadequate knowledge of Chinese or too much. Of course I didn't mention all the swearing I learned from Firefly , but I don't think it counts.

I think taking Chinese will be a lot more interesting than learning French. As helpful as knowing French is in Canada, Chinese is just something completely different. And besides, I suck at French. Learning Chinese gives me the chance to suck at a completely new language.

I doubt I'll know enough when I go see Serenity , but it's fun to hope that by seeing the movie it'll help me learn.
