Dog days

Had some bad news yesterday. Was at home for my Dad's birthday and our dog had been unwell. They thought she might have conjunctivitus, then an infection. Yesterday they took her up to a specialist who said she had glaucoma in her left eye, rendering it totally blind and would soon develop it in her right eye. This is due to pressure developing in her retinas from her drainage canals being at the wrong angle. To relieve the pressure, which causes major headaches, both eyes will have to be removed.I'm not dealing with this very well. For one thing, I've always had a phobia about eyes being damaged. I couldn't cope with losing my sight, I really couldn't. And now my dog is going to go around without any eyes in front of me. The children who used to bound up to her thinking "cute dog" will now be frightened of her. And I don't know if she'll cope with the change (she's 6 years old).
This just sucks.
