Meeting Morena: The play-by-play

So i show up at this theater place and we take our seats and watch the movie. Lets start there.

Oh. My. God. This was a fantastic movie! Well writen and directed, supurbly acted (not a single bad performance in the whole thing), interesting cinamatography, it was just GREAT. It was kind of firefly-esqe in that it was charchter driven, the acting was really natural, you beleved that these charchters had a history together and that they actually had chemestry. There was even a scene were they all sat around a table together eating chineese food (with chopsticks). It was a drama, but there were a lot of good jokes. (At one point, one of the charchters comes on screen without a shirt on, and somebody asks him where it is and he says, very deadpan like its no big deal, "There's no toilet paper in the bathroom.")


Afterwards, Morena, the director, and another one of the actors came onstage and did a little Q&A. Morena spoke very briefly about Serenity (just that she was in it), and somebody behind me cheered, so i guess i wasn't the ONLY browncoat. Another noteworthy thing about this part was that this little old lady stepped up to the mic and said, "I am a heterosexual grandmother who just feel absolutly in love with your simle." It was cute.

Durring the interview, Morena also said that her whole family is in some way affiliated with acting or directing (her mother once breast-fed her onstage, durring a show in front of a live audince when she was about 6 months old.) So becoming an actress was a really natural thing for her.

Also, she was born in Brazil.

After THAT part was over and she was comming offstage I went up to her and said, "I'm a browncoat, and I would beat myself up forever if I didn't come say something to you."

She goes, "Oh wow, you guys are everywhere."

She asked me what my name was and shook my hand (Morena touched my hand! I'm never washing it!), then I said, "Is Serenity incredible?"

And she goes, "Yes, its fantastic! You're going to love it!"

"All my questions get answered, right?"

"Yes! And the action sequences are just incredible."

"I almost cried when i found out that it got pushed back."

"Oh me too! But it'll be much better for it to open in September. Its just a better time."

And that was basicly it. It was really spiffy, and EVERYBODY needs to see this movie! Its called Way Off Broadway, and it opens in LA sometime in march.
